Program of the Viareggio Carnival 2010

Viareggio celebrates Carnival 2010 starting January 31st. Parades of papier-maché floats will invade the seaside avenues of Viareggio, known as La Passeggiata, attracting more than 1.000.000 spectators gathering to attend this magical event.

Lunatica 2009 – The Marble Quarries of Carrara in Tuscany

The 15th editon of Lunatica is hosted in the marble quarries of Tuscany at the Cava dei Fantiscritti in Carrara where numerous scenes of the latest 007 movie were shot.

Highlight of this years Lunatica event is “Dalle Cave alle Stelle” a performance by Fura del Baus on August 2nd

Inaugurated in June 1990, after extensive renovations, this hotel unites two Liberty villas, the largest and oldest of which was built for the Canevaro family, Dukes of Zoagli, from 1899 to 1902. A meeting place for nobility from the House of Savoia, the villas were subsequently converted into hotels while maintaining their original features.

Nights of Archaeology in Tuscany

Nights of Archaeology, special openings, exhibitions and other activities throughout Tuscany

Nights of Archaeology is an initiative which take place during the month of July (from the 3rd to the 26th), and features special events and exhibitions in Tuscany.

You don’t have to be an archaeologist to enjoy or understand, but rather have a passion for the past. There are itineraries designed for youngsters, guided walks in natural surroundings and cinematographic screenings, there is something for everyone.

Nights of Archaeology is organized by the Regione Toscana and AMAT (an association of archaeological museums in Tuscany), in collaboration with the Soprintendenza per i Beni archeologici (the supervisory body for archaeological assets in the region).

Events are planned throughout Tuscany in the province of Florence:

Cibo Ludens is a multi-sensorial event, a place to meet other people, enjoy fine foods and be inspired by fine arts, music, poetry, and theatrical events.

All Artists invited to participate replicate a work of art in foods, and will decorate the piazza within the castle with an original drape of their making. Participants will be given a “Cibo Ludens” plate created for the occasion and to be used throughout the evening.
