Perchè non abbinarla a un itinerario alla scoperta di uno dei materiali più pregiati da sempre simbolo dell’architettura e dell’artigianato toscano?

Il Marmo, prezioso minerale usato sin dal tempo dei Romani e dei Greci, impiegato per l’edificazione di chiese ed opere sacre (il Duomo di Carrara, Il Battistero ed il Duomo di Pisa), pavimentazioni, ornamento di edifici. Il Marmo ci racconta da sempre storie di uomini, di coloro che con fatica e ingegno “strappavano” il minerale alla roccia e di coloro che, con genio e creatività, “strappavano” forme dagli enormi blocchi.
Di certo l’uomo che meglio seppe esaltare i pregi di questo freddo minerale fu proprio Michelangelo Buonarroti, che visse per 3 anni in Versilia, per seguire personalmente i lavori di estrazione dalla cava, ancora attiva, che prende proprio il Suo nome.

Vogliamo celebrare il marmo, ricchezza della nostra terra e della nostra cultura, invitandovi a seguirci in questo viaggio affascinante, per strade ed paesaggi dall’atmosfera magica (le colline Toscane, le cave e Carrara) dove tutto ha origine per poi trasformarsi, come per incanto, con l’abile lavoro degli artigiani (le boutique del marmo ed il suo Museo), con il seguente programma:

Liza Minelli makes a return to Tuscany after 15 years.

Liza has successfully concluded a tour in Great Britain and will soon be coming to Italy where she will be performing in Rome and Florence, in cooperation with the Teatro Musicale Fiorentino.

Saturday November 1st, Liza Minelli and her group of 12 elements and a quartet of outstanding singers will perform in a 2 hour live stage show.

The Metropolitan Opera opens its 2008-09 season on September 22 with a gala performance that kicks off its 125^th anniversary starring Renée Fleming in three fully-staged scenes, including some of her most acclaimed portrayals.

The Met’s 125th anniversary season kicks off on September 22 with the Opening Night Gala starring Renée Fleming in fully staged excerpts from Verdi’s La Traviata, Massenet’s Manon, and Strauss’s Capriccio.

Costumes for Fleming have been specially created for each of the scenes in the Opening Night Gala by three of the world’s legendary fashion designers: John Galliano, Christian Lacroix, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.

The opening night performance will be transmitted live to multiple giant screens in Times Square, with free seating for 2,000 people. Screens that will carry the transmission include the Astrovision (Panasonic), Reuters, Nasdaq, and MTV screens. Gala performance to be transmitted live in HD to 600 theaters in North and South America as well as to Times Square and Fordham University’s Lincoln Center Plaza, and broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio SIRIUS channel 78.

In this occasion Met launches the italian co-management of the restaurant, that will be given to the florentine restaurant Le Murate, for the whole Season. An exhibition of Dante’s portraits by the renowned photographer Oliviero Toscani, opens at Met on the same day.

The 12th international Music Festival will take place starting September 2nd. 10 days of great musicians and music under the direction of Yuri Bashmet.
