The “Jazz & Wine in Montalcino” festival is certainly one of the most prestigious jazz events in Italy – the excellence of music, wine and foods. The festival was founded with the help of Castello Banfi, a member of the Hotel Relais Consortium and exclusive winery of Montalcino, deeply bound to the territory and its traditions.

Leading Jazz musicians from around the globe gather to serenade aficionado and novice alike enjoying fine wines in the suggestive environment of the medieval fortress and its civic counterpart in the nearby village of Montalcino. The month-long summer festival also has an abbreviated winter version, and occasional classical music concerts are planned as well.

An exclusive and elegant atmosphere with a personal touch, Castelletto di Montebenichi was restored and first became a home and later a castle hotel. This small medieval castle of the XII century provides luxury accommodation in Tuscany in five double bedrooms and four suites, carefully and individually furnished with every modern comfort. Guests enjoy the common living rooms, where they may chat, read, listen to music or simply rest and enjoy the unique furniture, precious ancient pictures and objects from the owners’ antiques private collections.

Guests help themselves at the breakfast buffet at the room’s minibar, and at the bar corner, with no extra charge – as if they were at home.

Castelletto di Montebenichi does not have a restaurant, an excuse to discover nearby villages and small “trattorie” offering genuine tuscan cuisine and local wine.

The “Castelletto” is fully immersed in the daylife of the small village of Montebenichi located over a hill at 510 m above sea level and surrounded by a beautiful and unspoiled natural environment, in the very heart of Tuscany, at the south-east border of the Chianti area.

To the south, at a distance, the charming panorama of the “Crete” is dominated on the background by Mount Amiata. Many of the most celebrated cities of art of Tuscany, such as:

  • Siena
  • Arezzo
  • Cortona
  • San Gimignano
  • Montepulciano
  • Pienza
  • Montalcino

are easily reachable by a short drive. The thermal hot swimming pools of Rapolano, are also at a short distance south-east, fed by natural warm water springing at 37°C. Or the small and rather unknown Montebenichi itself, still maintaining charming remnants of its past.
