Olive Oil, very much like truffles, is another superb product of Tuscany and just as important as famous wines. It is a well known fact that olive oil is a fundamental ingredient of the Mediterranean diet and Tuscany is home to some of the best olive oil produced in Italy.

Olive oils and their production are another opportunity to visit Tuscany and taste them this time of year.

So simple yet so tasty, a bruschetta with a tablespoon of extra virgin Tuscany olive oil is a unique gastronomical delight for both young and old, attracting locals and tourists to the many locations where olive oil is produced. The bright autumn colors paint the country side in the chilly days of November, when many events featuring olive oil take place.

Events this time of the year Throughout Tuscany:

  • Crete d’autunno – every week end starting November 1st ending December 8th in Asciano, Rapolano, Monteroni, Buonconvento, and San Giovanni d’Asso
  • Pane e Olio in Frantoio – Sunday November 30th
